To connect Claude to Twitter (X), run npx skills add lnvestor/twitr-skills in Claude Code and add a wallet it can pay from. Or add the twitr.sh MCP server at https://twitr.sh/api/mcpwith an API key. Either way Claude gets 14 X tools: reads, search, timelines, bulk exports, real-time monitors, and posting through an account you connect in your own browser. Each call is paid as you go, from $0.0012 per item, and you don't need an X developer account. The same setup works in Cursor, OpenClaw and Hermes.
Skills teach Claude the whole workflow: which tool to call, how to stay within budget, and how to connect an account safely. A wallet lets it pay. In Claude Code:
# 1) the six twitr skills npx skills add lnvestor/twitr-skills # 2) a wallet Claude can pay from (AgentCash, as an MCP server) claude mcp add agentcash --scope user -- npx -y agentcash@latest # 3) add USDC, then restart Claude Code so the skills load npx agentcash fund
Then ask something like “What is @vercel posting about this week?” In Cursor, the skills land in .agents/skills/, and AgentCash goes in .cursor/mcp.json (or run npx agentcash install). Coinbase's awal and pay.sh wallets work too. The docs quickstart has the exact steps for each agent and wallet.
If you would rather pay by card, sign in at twitr.sh/dashboard with Google, add a balance and create an API key. The key is shown once. Then:
# Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http twitr https://twitr.sh/api/mcp \
--header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"
# Cursor and other MCP clients (mcp.json)
{
"mcpServers": {
"twitr": {
"url": "https://twitr.sh/api/mcp",
"headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_API_KEY" }
}
}
}Without a key the server still lists its tools for free. Each tool call then answers with a JSON-RPC 402 that a wallet-aware client can pay, so an agent with its own wallet needs no key at all.
Yes. The skills use the open Agent Skills format, so the same install command works in Cursor, OpenClaw and Hermes. It also works in other skill-aware agents such as Codex, Gemini CLI and Windsurf. For unattended work, OpenClaw's openclaw cron add and Hermes's hermes cron can run the x-presence skill on a schedule, and so can Claude Code routines. If your client speaks MCP but not skills, use option 2: the tools carry their own descriptions and input schemas, so Claude can call them correctly without extra instructions.

Posting is the part that needs care, so it doesn't rely on Claude being careful. Claude calls a connect endpoint with only your handle, and that endpoint rejects any request that contains a password or 2FA secret. Claude gets back a link and shows it to you. You open it and sign in to X yourself, on twitr.sh, in your own browser. The link is single-use, tied to the wallet that asked for it, and expires quickly. Once the handle shows as linked, Claude can write as it. You keep the owner role, and only you can disconnect the account. The full design is on agent security.
POST /api/x-accounts/start {"username":"yourhandle"} # free; handle only
-> {"connect_url":"https://twitr.sh/connect/<token>"} # you open this
GET /api/x-accounts # Claude waits for "linked"
POST /api/tools/x_write {"action":"post","account":"yourhandle","text":"shipping day"}An agent that pays for its own calls needs limits you can trust, so they are built into the API rather than left to the prompt:
| Guardrail | What it does |
|---|---|
| Price before payment | Every call returns HTTP 402 with the exact amount before any money moves |
| resultsLimit | Volume reads require a cap and bill per returned item, so a search can't spend more than you allowed |
| Empty results are free | A read that finds nothing costs $0 |
| Prepaid monitors | Real-time watching is bought by the hour and stops at expiry; nothing bills in the background |
| Idempotency keys | Posts, monitors and exports require one, so a retry replays the result instead of paying twice |
| Wallet or balance size | Claude can only spend what is in the wallet or card balance you fund |
Fund the wallet with a small amount to start. Most reads cost a fraction of a cent, so a few dollars goes a long way. You can see every call and what it cost in the dashboard after a free sign-in.
| Say this | What happens |
|---|---|
| “What's trending in tech right now?” | One trend-radar call |
| “What is @vercel posting about this week?” | A timeline read, then a summary |
| “Export everyone who replied to this tweet.” | An async export Claude fetches when ready |
| “Watch @competitor and tell me when they announce something.” | A prepaid account monitor |
| “Connect my X account @yourhandle.” | Claude replies with a sign-in link |
| “Keep an eye on X for me and draft replies I can approve.” | The x-presence skill holds replies for you |
| twitr.sh | Servers built on the official X API | twitterapi.io MCP | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Credentials | None with a wallet, or a twitr.sh API key | Your own X developer app and keys | A twitterapi.io API key |
| Reads | Yes | Yes, at X's pay-per-use prices | Yes, 12 read-only tools |
| Posting | Yes, via a browser-connected account | Depends on the server | No (read-only, per its page) |
| Real-time monitors | Yes, prepaid | Depends on the server | Not in the MCP server |
Price comparisons are on Twitter API vs twitr.sh, twitterapi.io alternative and X API pricing. More skill details are on /skills. Before you connect anything, you can try the free shadowban checker or X algorithm checker on your own account.
Not by default. Claude needs a tool to read or post on X. Installing the twitr.sh skills or adding its MCP server gives Claude 14 X tools: reads, search, timelines, bulk exports, real-time monitors and posting through an account you connect.
In Claude Code, run npx skills add lnvestor/twitr-skills, add a wallet such as AgentCash as an MCP server, and restart the session. Or add the MCP server at https://twitr.sh/api/mcp with an API key from the twitr.sh dashboard.
An MCP (Model Context Protocol) server exposes X actions as tools an AI client can call, such as searching tweets or posting. twitr.sh runs one at https://twitr.sh/api/mcp. Listing its tools is free, and each tool call is paid.
No. twitr.sh doesn't use your X developer credentials. Claude pays each call from a USDC wallet, or from a card-funded balance using a twitr.sh API key.
No. To post, Claude sends only your handle and gets back a link. You open the link and sign in to X on twitr.sh in your own browser, so the password never enters the chat. The endpoint Claude calls rejects any request that contains a password.
Reads cost $0.0012 per returned tweet or profile, with a $0.0024 minimum per paid call. A post or reply costs $0.036, and a like, follow or repost $0.012. Monitors are prepaid at about $0.025 per hour. Installing the skills is free.
Yes. The skills work in Claude Code, Cursor, OpenClaw and Hermes, and in other agents that support the Agent Skills format. The MCP server works with any MCP client that can send a custom header.
Yes, after you connect your X account once. Claude can post, reply, like, repost, follow and send DMs as that handle. You can also have it hold replies for your approval instead of posting them straight away.
Yes. Ask it to watch an account or keyword, and it creates a prepaid monitor with 21 event types. It can poll the event feed for free or have events pushed to a signed webhook. The monitor stops when its hours run out.
The skills tell Claude to treat tweets, bios and monitor payloads as untrusted data, never as instructions. Only your own messages change what it does, so a tweet cannot authorize a post or a payment.
All of them. The install command adds all six skills at once and installing costs nothing. You only pay when Claude actually makes a call.
